Selfish vs Selfless

Ok, in institute we went over Ruth and the first chapter in Samuel. Ya know, as many times as I have had a course on the Old Testiment, and even read it, somehow I just forget the details to these stories.
We talked about how Ruth stayed with Naomi and the ever so famous verses that are even in "The Work and the Glory", where she tells Naomi that she will go where she goes and lodge where she lodges etc.., and also in Samuel, Hannah was made fun of for so many years, by her sister wife, that she could not bear children, and when she goes to the temple to pour her heart out to the Lord, the priest accuses her of being drunk. But she never rebeled, or got angry in either situation. Then on top of that, she is finally blessed with a son, and then ends up giving him to the Lord and only see's him once a year. Wow, talk about selflessness!
So, I want you guys to think of an example of someone you know that has showed selflessness and share with all of us on the blog. Just create a new post titled Selflessness or something like that.
I can't wait to read your stories.
PS- you should all read Ruth and Samuel too!

Grandkids

* Can I just say that playing "Duck Duck Goose" with Brailee is so much fun!!! I love the giggles of the kids when you are the goose and you have to chase them. And then, when you're chasing Brailee, Daiken stands in front of you with his arms spread out and he is the gate. How could you ever win with Daiken gating your progress?

* Giggles! Estee giggles when you play with her. Daiken giggles whenever Tyson plays with him. Brailee giggles when you tell her, "Don't give me kisses... don't do it" But the best part is the huge kiss you get anyway!

* Easter eggs - what can I say? We hid 36 - found 31. Ooops! Pretty sure the others will show up in the next day or two. Had to hide them inside because it's SNOWING outside! Isn't this supposed to be spring???

* Family! Yup - it's times like this that I wish the whole family was here to be part of the memories. The farm was amazing! (well until they take the mom cow away from the baby cow and they never get to see each other again!) We played in the mall today... kids on the carousel and Estee got her photo taken. Adam and Tyson went on a hike this morning but didn't go far 'cuz the snow came. We colored the best looking eggs in town. Daiken kept coloring the same egg over and over until it came out looking a bit like brown camo.

* Balls: Did you know that Daiken has to sleep with his ball at night? Not a doll - not a teddy bear - not a blanket... his BALL.

OK - gotta quit blogging here but just wanted you all to know how much fun "Family" is! Can't wait to spend time with Dev and Lianne and play with their little ones!!! (this is not an announcement) I will be very excited to be Nana to a whole bunch more of these little precious spirits!

Love you all ... Mom / Nana

...and then we saw a baby cow being born!

So today, March 20, 2008, Mom, Tyson, Adam, Britnee, Brailee, Daiken, and Estee all went to Fair Oaks Farm. What a fun, and very educational day we had. We started off by going to see a baby cow being born. It was absolutely amazing. The baby comes out with the from hoofs first, and then the head, then the rest of the body. The baby we saw, it was the mothers first time giving birth. She didn't quite know what to think about that. She was nervous and scared. She kept standing up, when she was supposed to be laying down and her poor legs were just shaking. She got so nervous, that she stopped pushing so the calf's front hoofs were just hanging there. Finally the attendant had to go in and help pull it's legs out. But that wasn't working so she finally had to get some ropes to put on each leg and she had to pull the baby out. The mother was only two years old. They consider them adult at age two. Everyone left, except for Suzi and Britnee. I suppose, for us who have gone through that ourselves, we were a bit more fascinated than the boys and kids.

Just a cute picture of the kids

Hey, Who are those cute girls? Here we are riding on the bus for our tour of the cows. There was a lot of information and it was very interesting to learn how the cows are fed, milked, cleaned, where they spend their days and where the calves go after they are born. Brailee loved being a big girl and wearing sunglasses just like her Nana.

After the bus tour we saw a 3D movie where we got milk sprayed on us three times! Daiken was not happy about that. He never got sprayed, but the sound scared him really bad. Then of course we had to go to the cheese factory and eat some ice cream and taste some cheese. Mmmm, yummy ice cream. So that was our day. Our fun adventure to the Farm.

Before and After

Tyson had to grow his hair out for the production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and then wanted it cut for "I Hate Hamlet"... The vote is in and we think that SHORT is best!

Kisses From Nana

Estee is LOVING having Nana here to visit. These are some cute pictures of Nana sinking kisses into Estee's squishy cheeks. Estee would lay her head on Nana to ask for more.

Walker Women

While lots of people post pictures of their "little ones", I had to post a picture of mine too. We're the Walker Women!

Daddy's Blond Baby!

I'M BLOND!!!!! I had to get a stripper and another color... Pretty much, my hair is damaged... not as bad as I thought it would be though! So, I am now back to being a blond baby!!!

Oops!!!

Well, as you can see, I tried to color my hair and it turned disastrous! When I put the color on to lighten my hair, I didn't realize that it would turn my roots so blond! Needless to say, I called Brit in a panic and got it fixed the next morning!
I told Dad that I looked like a 2 cent hooker and he started laughing so hard, I was afraid he would have a heart attack or something!

Beautiful Brailee

Isn't my little baby girl growing up so big. Sometimes I can hardly believe that she is mine. Where did my little baby go? Who replaced her tiny body with this big one? She is so grown up. She loves going to preschool. She surprises me all the time with new thoughts and ideas. She is my beautiful Brailee.

New Years Eve

The new year brought a "new" family. We are excited about our "new" addition, Lianne Manning. She is a sweet heart who met Devin while working together. We love her and are excited to get to know her more and more.

Checking things out!

Oh I figured it out! How exciting!
Thats about all!
Love you!
