Junior Prom

Saturday, April 26th was the very first Castle View High School Junior Prom. This is Tyson's date - Kelsey Hess. What a doll! (Love that girl) A very cute (and modest) couple!!! Kelsey and Tyson are good friends from school. Kelsey has an amazing voice and has been the lead in several of the productions at Castle View the past couple of years.

Had to include the classic "pinning on the boutonnière" photo... (moms always have to help) (smile)

The Things Kids Say

I walked into my bedroom and found Daiken jumping on my bed. When he saw me he said, "Hey Nana - your bed smells really good"

Today Daiken asked me to hold his stuffed animal, a pet dinosaur. I asked him if the dinosaur liked to have his tummy rubbed like a puppy does.
Daiken thought for a moment and then said: "You have to be grown up, like three years olds, to pet his tummy. Or old like you Nana... how old are you?"
Nana: "I'm like 99, that's what Brailee says"
Daiken: "Oh, well, you have to be a grown up like three years olds and 99 years olds to pet a dinosaur's tummy."

The other day Brailee, Daiken and Estee were busy pulling petals off of some flowers that Britnee had on display. When she caught them she asked them to please pick up the petals and throw them away. Daiken and Estee picked up a few petals and then quickly disappeared. Brailee remained picking up. Britnee asked: "Brailee, Why did you think you could do this? Why do you think this is OK?" Brailee very calmly stated, "Because we are children."

Britnee recently took Brailee with her when she went for an ultrasound. While the tech was measuring the fluid, Brailee asked: What are you doing?
Tech: Measuring the fluid
Brailee: What's fluid?
Tech: It's the water where the baby lives
Brailee: (shocked) Can it breathe?
Tech: Yes, the baby can breathe while it's in the water.
Brailee: Oh, is it a dolphin? Wait - No - dolphins have to come up out of the water to take a breath
Tech: (laughing) No, it's really a baby.

Britnee: (to Brailee) Brailee, I need you to have a happy face.
Brailee: But I just want to have a regular face.

Brailee: Nana, do you exercise?
Nana: I try to.
Brailee: Why? So you can have a baby?

Britnee: (to Brailee) Maybe we can have Grandpa or Daddy cut it 'cuz they are strong.
Brailee: Yah! They are! And Nana is the nice one and you're ... the mom.

Britnee: (to Brailee) You sure are a happy girl today.
Brailee: I know! I think maybe I'll listen to you today!

For my birthday Britnee wanted me to call ahead before I came home from work so the kids could surprise me. She and I secretely communicated on the phone and then Brailee said she wanted to talk to me. When Brailee came to the phone she said, "Hi Nana - when you come in the door we will be hiding and then we will jump and say "Surprise!" so you will need to come in and show us how happy you are." (so much for surprises huh?)

Brailee: "Nana, Can I have some of your drink?"
Nana: "Sure honey, but it's root beer. Do you still want some?"
Brailee: "Oh, No. I don't like roots"

Daiken: "Nana, where is my chapstick?"
Nana: "Honey, I'm not sure. You didn't see it downstairs?"
Daiken: "No"
Nana: "Hmmmm, what should we do?"
Daiken: "You can just buy me a new one"
